Day 458

Today started out sucking.  Ellen got up at 6 because her goddamn bag was leaking.  We changed it last night at 8.  I think part of the problem is that the new tube of sealing material is fucked.  It's not very sticky.

There was no going back to sleep after that, so I just did the pet stuff and surfed.  I also wrote another email to NSSF asking them to confirm that I was approved to go to SHOT Show.  It was too early for breakfast.  I got breakfast about 8 and then did some more surfing.  About 10 I decided to go out and turn off the heat in the trailer and the well house.  After that I decided to connect a hose to the trailer to see if the freeze had caused any damage.

That's when the day began to suck more.  There didn't seem to be any problem with the kitchen.  I was feeling good until I saw the water on the bathroom floor.  It was coming out of the back of the toilet.  It was a small leak, but it produced a fair amount of water quickly.  I couldn't figure out exactly where it was coming from.  I got Ellen and had her turn the water on and off a couple of times while I figured it out.  It turned out to be the toilet valve.  Apparently I hadn't thought to drain it.

I went inside and started looking up Dometic toilets.  I found the model.  I also found the part number for the valve.  There was a note in the description that said the design had been changed in 2015 to correct a freezing problem.  Our trailer is a 2014.  I looked up Camping World.  They carried the valve.  I called them up and they only had one in stock.  I reserved it.

We left for Camping World about noon.  We got down there and bought the valve.  We also bought a couple of t-shirts for Dan and Martha, and a kitchen light for the trailer.  I've always hated the one that came with the trailer.  I wanted to buy a tire monitoring sysem, but they didn't have any in stock.

Buckee's was a mile away, so we went there.  It's an impressive place with a lot of food items and tourist trinkets.  We decided to eat there, and it was really good.  Unfortunately there's no place to sit down, we had to eat in the car.  I gassed up the car there.  The gas was cheap, and I wanted to wash the windows.  Unfortunately Buckee's doesn't provide window washing apparatus.  The final activity was run the dog.  She only did 4 or 5 retrieves.  However, she did scare up a jack rabbit and had a great time searching the dog are for just the right places to pee and shit.

The ride home was OK until we were on 967.  We ended up in a line of cars behind a gravel truck that wouldn't do more then 40.  We followed him to 1826, and then 3 miles on 1826 before he turned off.

Ellen's bag was leaking again when we got home.  So we changed it.  There was good news when we got home also.  There was an email that said that we were approved to go to SHOT.  I went out and installed the toilet valve and the kitchen light.  The light is a lot better.  I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if the valve works.  I'll also have to look for any more damage to the water system.

In the evening it was surfing and a lot of TV.  I also read the weekend's papers which I hadn't had time to read because of the class.
