Day 475

We got up at 8 today.  The extra hour was welcome.  We fed the animals and the went to a German bakery/restaurant.  The food was good, and there was plenty of it.  We bought some pastries to take with us.  When we got home, we packed up and left.  Hooking up went really easy.  I backed up when a parked and was perfectly aligned.  I just hooked up, I didn't even have to adjust the trailer height.

The trip was uneventful except for a couple of assholes who pulled in front of me and then immediately slowed for a right turn.

When we got home we put the cats in the house and parked the trailer.  It took a little effort, but it wasn't a big hassle.  There's just no way to do it without moving rocks though.

Unhitching was another pain in the ass.  Again I had to pound the release and it would only go halfway.  This time moving the truck didn't do any good.  I finally ended up getting in the truck bed to really pound on it.  That did the trick.  I hate that hitch.

After that we started to unpack the trailer.  Ellen did a lot of that while I put on wheel covers, got the car out, cleaned out the truck, and repaired the tarp on the truck shelter.  She even got a start on the cleaning.  I called a halt about 1 so we could do errands.  We stopped at Walgreen's for my drugs.  Lunch was at Wendy's across the street.  Then we stopped at Wally World to get some sponges to replace the t-shirts Ellen is using on the seat belt.  The last stop was the post office to pick up the mail.  There was a lot of it.  I had to sort through it all right there because they'd mixed in some mail for another box.

When we got home we finished the trailer.  I moved the rest of the stuff out of the trailer and put some of it away in the house.  Ellen finished the cleaning.  The final thing was we partially made the bed.  The top sheet still needs to be washed.

It was after 4 when we called it quits.  We went through all the mail.  We ended up having to write some checks for bills, that isn't common any more.  There were also some checks in the mail, including two rebate checks.  I ended up tearing up a dozen or more credit card letters and shredding the result.

That and finishing the wash took until dinner.  The evening was Ellen watching TV and me surfing and reading.

One note.  Apparently there was a big storm while we were gone, over 3 inches of rain.  I broke a tree branch in the back yard that hit our big metal windmill and bent one of the arms.  I bent it back, but it's a little crooked.  It still seems to work though.
