Day 1331

We got up at 7:30 and did the pet stuff.  Hooch and Alicia were already at the pickle ball court.  We could have gone, but I wanted breakfast instead.  After breakfast I surfed, did a Lego, and worked on the new puzzle.  I fixed myself leftover spaghetti for lunch.  E;;en. Martha, and the girls went to pickle ball.  There was no point in my going because they only had one court.

Everybody finally came back and fixed themselves lunch.  I did some more surfing and puzzle work.  There was a pickle ball reservation at 3, but no one was interested in going.  I was mildly disappointed.

A little after 3 Hooch and his buddy decided to walk to the river.  Ellen and I drove halfway there and met them on the path.  I was afraid Lucy would be too tired after swimming.

It was a several mile walk to the place we took the dogs too.  Lucy did three retrieves.  On the third one she almost drowned.  She missed the bumper and started swimming out into the middle of the river.  Of course she couldn't hear us yelling at her to turn around.  When she finally did she was out in the current and started to sink because her back legs went out.  She actually ended up with just her nose above water.  Hooch and I were getting ready to go in after her.

Fortunately she managed to right herself and swim back to shore.  However, when she got about 4 feet from shore she realized she didn't have the bumper and turned around and headed back out.  Somehow we managed to persuade her to come to shore.

By then the bumper had floated down about 50 yards and stopped in a snag about 10 feet from shore.  Hooch took Rowdy down there and retrieved it.  That was the end of the swimming.

Hooch didn't have a shock collar for Rowdy, so Rowdy went on a walkabout when we were going back.  Fortunately he came back after a few minutes.

When we got home Martha fixed tacos for dinner.  After dinner was a little surfing and a movie.  I just surf during the movies because they are all kid movies.
