Day 616

I woke up at 7, but didn't get out of bed until 8.  Then it was pet stuff and breakfast.  After breakfast it was some surfing and then off to Woodburn to get the title for the Ranger.  Ellen also moved around some money to pay for the new one.  I also stopped at ACE to get a piece of tubing to make it easier to add water purifier to the water tank.

I tried to get a hold of Joe this morning, but he didn't answer his phone.  I needed my truck to go pick up the new Ranger.  So after Woodburn we went to Mt. Angel.  Joe wasn't there.  So we went to Baumann's to buy Vandy some strawberries.  When we got back we stopped at the club and confirmed that Dave would by the old Ranger.  Then I set up an appointment for 2 to pick up the new one.

After lunch we surfed until it was time to go to the dealership.  It took quite awhile for them to get around to us.  We spent the time looking at the other vehicles.  It wasn't bad.

We finally got our chance to fill out a little paperwork and give them a check.  We got free t-shirts.

On the way back we stopped at Roth's for a couple of things and the post office.  Then we waited at the club for about an hour until they delivered the new one.  The rear window and doors were in stock, so we got those too.

I drove it around the club on the way home.  The steering wheel isn't centered, so it will be going back at some point.  Everything else seems to work.

When we got home I started to parts on.  The "wiper wiring kit" was just a pair of 8 ga wires.  We paid way too much for them.  I have to look in the manual though.  I can't find the battery.  The rear window took about a minute to install.  It just clips on, but it works well.  The doors are a lot more complicated.  Some trim pieces have to be removed and slots cut in them.  There's mounting hardware to be installed on the rig, and other hardware to be installed on the doors themselves.  Finally they have to be adjusted.

I got the trim pieces removed before dinner.  After dinner I went back out.  I installed the mounting hardware and cut the trim pieces.  I got one trim piece back in place.  On the other the factory had left off a fastener and a hose clamp.  I'll have to get those tomorrow.  I'm also going to get a rear view mirror.  There was no way I was going to pay their price for one.

They wanted $900 to install the cab pieces.  I'm glad I'm doing it myself.  It's fun, and I'm saving a lot of money.

There wasn't much of the evening left when I stopped work.  I spent it surfing.
