I woke up about 8, played gaes for a while, and then got up for pet stuff and breakfast. After breakfast I did a little surfing and then we loaded up and left for the clays course.
The drive to today's course was a lot nicer than yesterday. The place was closer and the traffic was nicer. The course is on the side of Provo canyon about 4 miles up the canyon. It has an astounding view of the canyon, the mouth of the canyon, and the valley with Utah beyond.
The course had 8 stations, all looking out over that view. The target ranged from medium hard to medium. I'm really glad we went there and will probably return. The weather was a little cool, but comfortable.
When we were finished we returned to the bottom of the canyon and stopped at a park on the way back down the canyon. The park was extensive with several separate picnic/playground areas. Apparently it had been the end of a marathon race earlier and there were still a lot of people left over from that there. We walked around the park for a while an then got back in the truck.
We stopped at Dutch Bros for drinks and Culver's for hamburgers on the way home. The last stop was to fill up with fuel. Tomorrow's trip is 216 miles, so we shouldn't have to stop for fuel.
When we got home it was videos and a nap again. Before dinner a strong windstorm blew up. We have a large, almost dead, tree 4 feet from the parking area of our campsite. A 20 foot long, 6 inch in diameter, limb broke off it during the storm. It landed in the two adjacent campsites. Luckily the people in one of them had left this morning. The thing could have wrecked the truck, the trailer, or both if it had fallen the other way.
A trailer a few spaces from ours had a 6 inch tree limb stab through its roof. An 8 inch limb barely missed it. Both were from a completely alive tree. The campground has a lot of the large trees, almost 1 or 2 per campsite. They are all very tall, perhaps 40 feet or more. Some are sickly, but most appear healthy. While the owners of the damaged trailer were unlucky, the rest of the people in the park were very lucky.
I'm a little torn on when to leave tomorrow. It will probably take 3 to 4 hours to get to Declo. I'd like to leave early to avoid traffic, but I don't want to get there before noon. I'll probably get up about 7:30.
