Today was a cloudy day. I got up and did a few chores. I moved some stuff out to the garage and hung up the train sign that John and Patty gave me in the well house. Then I went to work on the door molding that Lucy chewed up in the bedroom. I managed to cover up about half of the chewed area before I ran out of wood filler. It will look OK when it's sanded and painted, but it won't ever look new.
I messed around surfing for a lot of the mid morning and early afternoon. Then I took Lucy to the hospital. The clouds were breaking up as we got there, but luckily the parking structure isn't very full on the weekends.
The ostomy nurse stopped by while we were there. She told us about a couple of things that we didn't know. Apparently the nurse at the north hospital forgot to tell us to wash off the adhesive remover with soap. She also forgot to give us this spray that needs to be used with the skin protector. She also showed us a 1 piece bag which she highly recommends.
Just before she left she asked Ellen about her condition. Ellen said she had blood sepsis. The nurse exclaimed "I'm sorry". That worried me, but I didn't say anything.
I left about 4:30. It was 90 degrees and 90% humidity outside - a steam bath. I ran Lucy on the grass next to the parking structure. She did 18 retrieves before the weather got to her.
On the way home I stopped at Home Depot for some more wood filler. They didn't have any. So I went to Lowe's. They did. I should have gone back to Wally World. I also made a quick stop at HEB for a pizza and some soap they ostomy nurse had recommended.
When I got home I looked up "blood sepsis". The news isn't good. Ellen has blood poisoning. She has about a 50% chance of surviving and a 25% chance of permanent organ damage. I guess she didn't want to tell me today. I'm really worried. This has a good chance of killing her. I'm going to have a talk with her tomorrow. I think it's time to make some noise. I don't even know who is responsible for her treatment. I think so far it's been the "doctor of the day". That needs to change. I don't know what I can do tomorrow, but Monday I'm going to start making some noise.
It's going to be really hard to get through the next few days.
