Today was kind of fun. I got up a little late and decided that I needed to accomplish something. So I went out to the garage and started to build the 6.8 upper. It was slow going because I'd never done an upper before. It wasn't really hard though. I didn't run into anything that was really a problem.
About halfway through the build it was time to get Ellen walking. So I called a halt and went inside. I needed to go to Lowe's to get some red loctite for the build. I also wanted to try some different sized set screws for one of the gas blocks. The ones that came with it didn't seem to work well (more on that later).
After Lowe's I asked Ellen where she wanted to eat. We had the dog with us, so it had to be a place where she could eat with us. We settled on the Italian place. We stopped at Tomlinson's first for cat food and some treat for Lucy. The lady there sold me a bag of treats they had on sale. She knows me too well.
After lunch I stopped at the shaved ice place at 45 and 1826. It was OK, but not as good as the one in Oregon. It was a lot cheaper though.
When I got home I finished the build. It came out great. I was so stoked that I went inside and started to look for the parts to complete the 6.5 build. I spent hours looking for the right stuff at the right price. It was after 11 when I finished, so I went to bed without buying anything. I have the items and vendors identified though.
Ellen was fairly tired when we got back. She is getting a little better every day, but she spent the rest of the day watching TV. Dola came over to talk for awhile. I think that she's going to make a habit of daily visits.
