Day 1429

We got up at 7:30, had breakfast, did the pet stuff, and started to get ready to leave.  It all took linger than I thought it would.  The tires took quite awhile.  We finally hit the road about 9.

Everything along the trip seemed to cost us time.  Everyone on I5 was doing under 65 and the tire temp gauge went off while we were on I5.  I stopped at the Canby exit, there was nothing wrong.  There was a slow down on I205 before Oregon City and another at Foster.  I developed a serious need to piss, so we stopped at a rest area just past Hood River.  I couldn't wait another 20 minutes to get to The Dalles.  There were several long stretches of construction.  One was 15 miles of 45 mph.

At least the gas stops were easy.  We didn't have to wait at either, and I got to go in so that I was pointed the right way to leave.  We needed the stops.  The new trailer tows heavy.  The best we got was 9 and the worst was 7.5.  That's at least a 25% reduction versus the old trailer.  The prices were good, though.

We didn't stop in Baker for fuel.  Instead we planned on getting fuel in Richland.  We got there a little before 4.

I couldn't get the auto level to work.  I ended up with something that was pretty close.  Unhooking was easy though.  The trailer is nose heavy because of the way I've loaded it.  I just raise the front until the truck quits rising and then unhook.

Ellen broke the plant shield when she opened the slideout.  She didn't look.  When she opened the other one she ripped a big gash in the living room floor.  I won't be able to fix it.  There was a catalog stuck in the slideout.  I was pissed.  Later on it turns out that there was also a plastic gizmo stuck under the slideout.

I put together the clothes rack.  The stupid Chinese had mismeasured two of the bars.  I had to cut them off to make them fit.  That turned a short assembly into a pain in the ass.  When it was done I found the key to the storage unit and unlocked it.  I put the rack, the clothes, and the gun boxes inside.  The Bronco battery was dead, so I hooked a battery charger to it.

Dinner was a TV dinner.  Afterwards was surfing.
