Day 1436.

We got up at 8:30 today, did the pet stuff, had breakfast, and hooked up.  We were on the road by 9:30.

The first half of the drive was easy.  The only pain was the continually climbing of hills just so we could go down the other side.  Mileage wasn't anything to brag about.  With all of the climbing passes (5900 and 6500) just to go back down didn't help.  Overall it was probably 8.8 mpg.

Things really started to suck when we got to the campground.  The KOA sucks to begin with.  They put us in a spot the was designed for a motor home.  The part for the truck was relatively flat, but the part where the trailer goes was slanted.

We unhooked and tried to level the trailer.  The self level couldn't do it.  So I hooked back up and did it manually with blocks.  The result was a jump down from the trailer steps.  So I hooked up again and re-positioned the trailer as close as I could to the post.  Things still weren't level, but at least the jump was less.

Did I mention that the sewer connection is at one end of the space.  You'd need 20+ feet of hose to reach it from the trailer.  Luckily we won't be using it.

Unfortunately during the reposition I left the steps down and they hit a rock.  It bent the hell out of the lowest step.  We left to get tools and hardware to fix it.

I went to the ACE, got screws, a large pipe wrench and a large crescent wrench.  Then we drove through town, got fuel (18 gallons), got groceries, and stopped at Mickey D's for an early dinner.  Then we went home and I got to work on the steps.  A guy who saw the damage offered to help, but I told him I had what I needed.

I drilled out the step rivets so I could bend the supports back into shape.  They were tweaked pretty bad.  With the new tools and Ellen's help I managed to get everything aligned again.  I reattached the step with the screws I'd purchased.  After a little final tweaking it works as good as new. You can tell it's been tweaked, but only if you look hard.

After that we took the dog for a walk.  She was prancing all around, just like when she was a puppy.  We talked to someone who was here for the senior games.  That's why everything is so crowded.

When that was done we went inside for surfing and TV.  The cable quality sucks and the wi-fi is marginal.  I hate this place.
