Day 130

I hate flying. There's nothing like sitting for hours with nothing between your ass and six miles of thin air except a few millimeters of aluminum. The deluxe seating and the wonderful half oz of peanuts and small glass of orange juice further enhance the experience. The flight to Las Vegas was a little better because the plane was only half full. After three hours sitting in the LV airport I got on a completely full flight to Spokane. It was made even more fun with the addition of 4 screaming rugrats and a barking dog.

Aiport security is a joke. All of these ex-burger flippers standing around hindering people's progress while doing nothing to add to flight security. At the Spokane airport there is a narrow hallway with a sign in it saying "don't turn around, you are leaving a secure area". Now tell me how I enter the hallway "safe" and get magically transformed into a potential terrorist by the time I get to the end of it. Did I mention that there are two burger flippers standing at the "safe" end to insure I don't turn around?

I was met at the airport by one of Mom's friends. She was a very nice lady who drove me directly to the home. Dad was a responsive as he ever got. That meant that his eyes were open and he turned his head slightly when I spoke to him. Over the space of 20 minutes or so his eyes closed and his neck relaxed. I stayed there with Mom for several hours. I talked the whole time so that he could hear my voice.

Then we all left for dinner. When we returned Dad was unchanged - breathing heavily and not responding. The priest was there. He ed us in a prayer and said a whole lot of comforting words. We decided that Tony would take the first watch. I'd relieve him at 5:00 AM. I'm glad he took the first watch, I'm very tired.
