I wired one of the surround sound speakers today. It involved quite a bit of crawling around in the attic stringing wire. Twenty years ago I enjoyed doing that. It's not near as much fun now. I wonder what changed?
Today was a textbook case of the good and the bad of buying things on Craig's list.
First I inquired about an ad for two wood filing cabinets that were for sale for $100. The picture on the website was dark, but they looked OK. The ad said they were in South Austin. When the people called, it turned out they were in Kyle, 25 miles away. I went anyway. The cabinets were junk. They looked like they had been beaten with a bat. Apparently the tops had been ruined because the seller had replaced them with construction plywood that was painted sort of the same color. The tops weren't even attached to the cabinets. I was polite, but I wanted to read the lady the riot act. She was trying to sell crap that Goodwill wouldn't take. That wasted a couple of hours and $8 worth of fuel.
In the afternoon I went to pick up the desk. It's very heavy, even when disassembled and the drawers have been removed. The seller knew that I didn't have anyone to help me, so he offered to come home with me to help unload the desk and reassemble it. He even carried some of the pieces over in his van. I couldn't have got it out of the truck without his help. We now have a nice roll top desk in the study. Now all I have to do is unpack all the stuff that goes in it.
After the desk and the attic crawling I was too tired to do anything else so I just went back to the trailer and fixed dinner.
