Much activity, but not much unpacking today.
The third roofing guy came by this morning. He was the one recommended by the inspector. I received his bid late in the day. It's $600 higher than the others.
I was going to unpack the living room today, but I couldn't find the pegs for the futon. I looked in four previously unopened boxes and struck out. Instead I unpacked the subwoofer and then took the empty equipment boxes to the garage. I decided to put the bed frame I bought yesterday together. I also installed some towel racks in the apartment bathroom.
I went out to buy a paper and pick up some stuff at Home Depot. I got slats for the bed, some tools, and some casters for the pinball machines. I also got a dowel to cut pins for the futon. I really like the Friday Austin paper. It has 8 pages of porn. The Portland paper only had 4. Unfortunately, Fry's is 25 miles away on the other side of Austin.
When I got home I cut the slats for the bed and made pins out of the dowel. I had to move the futon to put in the dowels. That's when I discovered the pins in the bag with the futon. I also discovered that we had put the frame together wrong. So I took it apart and put it together the right way. Then I stacked the remaining boxes out of the way and arranged all of the furniture. The result almost looks like a living room.
The sellers definitely didn't pick up their cat before they left. I put out some food for it this evening. When it saw me it came out of the bushes and started meowing. I couldn't get it to come within 40 feet of me. I'm not sure if I should try to capture it and take it to the pound or just hope it makes out when we leave.
