The rest of the furniture and other stuff is in the house. We even got three pieces of furniture (hutch, bookcase, and secretary's desk) placed in their final positions. There's a lot of boxes and other furniture in the middle of all the rooms.
Ellen got to spend most of the day painting, so she made good progress. She finished most of the kitchen and the living room. I managed to get all of the kitchen cabinets cleaned inside and out.
The sellers had left them pretty dirty, especially the outside. That means that we can start unpacking the 15 or so boxes of kitchen stuff.
I'll have to clean out the closets and pantry before we can start putting things in there.
Yesterday evening I scheduled a trip to see a dresser that was advertised on Craig's list. Unfortunately, the guy sold it before I called at 9:00 AM. I found a pair of dressers for $75, so we drove up to Round Rock (north of Austin) to get them. They weren't in as good a shape as their description, but we bought them anyway. After all, they are going into a closet.
Going up there was the first time I've been to Austin. The traffic is nuts and the drivers are nuttier. Southbound I35 through town was a miles long traffic jam at 5:30 PM on a Saturday. Luckily we were going north. I won't be spending much time in Austin. I'm a little worried about getting Ellen to/from the airport. Hopefully staying south of Austin will be OK.
I'm damn tired tonight. I don't think that I'll be working too hard tomorrow. The thing is, there's lots more stuff to do.
