Day 315

I got up at 7:30 this morning.  After pet stuff and breakfast I went out to remove the light bulb from the yard light.  Ellen had to hold the ladder, and it wasn't too hard to do.

The next job was to get out the chin saw and chop off the tree branches that were blocking the ditch.  After they were out of the way it was easy to see how the blockage had filled up the ditch and caused the berm to erode.  The temperature was in the 80's and the humidity was in the 90's.  I was soaked in sweat by the time I was done.

It was still early, so I got out the pick and shovel.  I dug out about 10 feet of the ditch and rebuilt the berm.  By that time I was exhausted.  I actually had to stop and lay down.  After awhile I got back up, dug another 18 inches, and then put the tools away.  Getting old sucks.  When I was a teenager I could have dug out the whole thing in half a day or so.  As is it will take me several days working about an hour a way to do it.

I went inside and rested for a few minutes before I had enough energy to take a shower - I was that tired.  After the shower and cool down we locked up the pets and left for Red's.

Red's wasn't really over crowded, but it had a good number of people in it.  Sig had a van there and several reps.  Ellen saw a 9mm Kimber that looked nice, but the Sig guy showed us a catalog with an alternative.  He quoted us a really good price and promised us a bunch of swag.  So I ordered one.

I got talking to him about the Legion.  He showed me one.  It's a really sweet pistol.  He promised me some more swag, so I bought it also.  All total he gave me two t-shirts (one for Ellen), a polo shirt, a really nice range bag, a really nice rifle case, a box of .45, and a few trinkets.  All total it was at least $300 or more worth of stuff, and the price of the Legion was the internet price.  Tomorrow's SSA check will cover the cost of both pistols.

After that we went to the post office.  There were three packages waiting for us.  All three were from Amazon and contained a bunch of stuff that we ordered with the Amazon gift cards.  All in all today was like Christmas.

We had lunch at the Longhorn and then went to Lowe's to get light bulbs.  We got home just at 2:00.  That was the appointment for measuring the windows.  After the measurement guy left we went out and put in the new light bulb.

The rest of the afternoon was surfing and hiding out from the heat and humidity.  It was miserable.

In the evening we watched TV and I played some Minions.  I was really happy to see that the yard light was working when it got dark.  In fact, I think it's a little brighter than the old one.
