Day 325

I shut the alarm off this morning and went to sleep for another half hour.  I was up past 12 last night, so that was justifiable.  About 8 I woke up, played some Minions, and did some surfing.  I got up about 9 and did the pet stuff and had breakfast.  It was cloudy, so I didn't hurry.

After breakfast I went outside to do some digging.  I had decided to use concrete blocks for the base of the pump shelter.  I figured that was the best way to make sure the base was level.  Because the west side of the pump is about 6 inches lower than the east that involved some digging.  I removed the stones I had placed there and started digging.  The "soil" was full of rocks, so I had to use the pick to loosen it.

It started to rain lightly as I left the house.  It got steadily heavier as I worked.  After about half an hour It got heavy enough that I decided to quit.  I put all the tools away.  As I was walking back to the house the rain returned to a light drizzle.  So I went back to work.

It took me almost 2 hours to dig out, level, and set a dozen concrete blocks.  It rained most of the tie, but it was also in the high 80's.  That made it miserable. I dug out two carts loads of dirt and rocks.  I hauled them over to the berm by the basketball court.  They are a lot heavier than cart loads of gravel.  I was really tired when I was done.

I went inside, took a shower and had lunch.  I sat and surfed for awhile to recover.  Then we went to the post office, the pet store (for cat food), Home Depot (for more concrete blocks), Fireman's (to get a pickle bucket), HEB (for milk), and Circle C to run the dog.  Home Depot had some concrete block adhesive that I'm going to try.  I was even more tired after all of that.

When I got home I decided to get some nice grips for the Sig I just bought.  It's a nice gun, but it's plain.  I order some English Walnut grips that look like the stocks on our shotguns.

The evening was watching the gun shows on TV.  I waited until the evening garbage run to unload the 14 concrete blocks I bought.
