We had to get up early today because they wanted to poison Ellen at 8:00. I set the alarm so that we'd get there just in time. That was a mistake. Leaving as late as7:45 meant that we met a big backup at Slaughter. It was a three or four cycle delay. That would have made us really late. So I drove down the right shoulder like I was making a right turn. I intended to do that, but just before the intersection a space opened up so I moved back into the lane and went straight. It was an asshole move, but it was the only way to get there on time.
We got there at 8:08, two minutes early. On the way home I looked at the northbound lanes at Slaughter. They were backed up most of the way to Lacrosse. When I got to Lacrosse it started to rain heavily. So heavily that it was hard to see the road. That lasted for a couple of miles before it reduced to a more normal rainfall.
I was pissed because I was going to dig out the ditch. After about 20 minutes at home I decided to dig even though it was raining. At least it wasn't as hot, just 78 or so. That turned out to be OK. I managed to finish the ditch - sort of. I've dug it out, but because it was raining I couldn't really see what I was doing. I looked at it in the afternoon when it had emptied of water. I'm going to have to do some cleanup of some places, but it won't be a big deal.
I surfed until Ellen texted to say she was done. I took the dog and we ate at Opal Devine's. On the way home we stopped at a pet store for kitty litter and some deterrent spray to spray on the bath mat. Taiko has taken to shitting and pissing on it. The spray we got was for dogs - they didn't have a cat one. We'll see if it works. We also made stops at the post office and HEB.
When we got home I put everything away and sprayed the bath mat while Ellen did a complete cat box change out. Hopefully Taiko will start using it again.
We didn't get home until 4:15, so that was the day. The evening was surfing and watching the gun shows on TV.
